Zenith El Primero De Luca 02.2310.400 MK5
Produced between 1988 and 1996, the El Primero “De Luca” line consisted of several references throughout the years with different dial configurations, and was built in response to the sales success of the Rolex Daytona which utilizes a Zenith movement at the time at the request of Italian importer, De Luca.
Over the years the aesthetic changed slightly to closer resemble the Daytona, such as the version we have here. Reference 02.2310.400 features a 40mm case in steel, screw-down pushers, black uni-directional bezel and houses a deep black Mk5 dial with silver dub-dials, applied indices and topped with Mercedes style hands.
There were only 6,500 pieces manufactured of all versions (screw down and non-screw down versions). The version with screw down pushers were manufactured between 1994 and 1996. 1,325 pieces were made with black dials and 675 with white dials.
It’s powered by the El Primero 400 automatic movement, and features a nicely integrated date window at 4.
Overhauled by Zenith in 2023, the dial, hands, bezel, glass and gaskets were replaced along with a full movement service.
