Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT SBGE275

Regular price $7,300 now $5,000 Unit price  per

Honoring the 20th anniversary of Grand Seiko’s first GMT timepiece, SBGE275 is a limited edition Spring Drive GMT in the Sport Collection with a dial inspired by the wintery snow scape of the Hodaka mountains in Shinshu.

The stainless steel case of SBGE275 measures 44mm in diameter and 14.9mm in thickness. Alternating mirror-polished and hairline surfaces across different planes give the case its distinct sparkle, and with its down-turned lugs and crown moved from three o’clock and offset to the four o’clock position, SBGE275 wears comfortably on a variety of wrists. The rotating bezel has a durable sapphire overlay with LumiBrite underneath, where all the white portions on the bezel glow green in lowlight conditions.

Visible through the exhibition case back is Spring Drive caliber 9R16. It features a 72-hour power reserve and an accuracy of ±.5 seconds per day. This movement is a true GMT, where the local hour hand is independently adjustable, and the GMT hand remains fixed to home time. Around the dial is a 24-hour chapter ring, and along with the 24-hour bezel, 9R16 can be utilized to track three separate time zones.

SBGE275 is a limited edition of 1,500 watches.

About Grand Seiko

Grand Seiko emerged in 1960 as a high-end watch line from Seiko, aiming to challenge Swiss dominance in luxury watchmaking. The brand quickly established itself with Japan's first chronometer-grade watch and later gained renown for its innovative Spring Drive technology, which combines the best of automatic and quartz movements. In 2017, Grand Seiko became an independent entity, solidifying its position in the luxury watch market.

The brand's design philosophy, known as the "Grammar of Design," was established in 1967 with the Grand Seiko 44GS. This aesthetic approach emphasizes legibility, refined appearances, and distinctive features like multi-faceted markers and hands, a half-recessed crown, and the meticulous Zaratsu polishing technique. Grand Seiko continues to push boundaries in watchmaking, as evidenced by recent innovations like the "Kodo Constant-Force Tourbillon," while maintaining its commitment to precision engineering and unique design language.
